Old Low Ploy Terrain Restoration

Hey all, I have right now an old, out-dated, low-poly mesh from the N64 era. Since I am trying to create a continuation of this old game, I was wondering if someone could give me some tips for modernizing this mesh. For one, obviously, increase the poly count and mold the terrain into more natural shapes. But this is proving to be far more difficult that I thought, can someone give me a few tips on the entire process of restoring an old mesh?

Thanks so much!

EDIT: The title should read Low Poly, not Ploy, sorry…

A meshsmooth + some fractal noise?

I tried mesh smooth, and it nearly triples the polygon count with just one iteration. Without that mesh smooth dont have enough polys to make noise look good. One thing about this mesh, it isnt complete, there are holes in it where polys were left out because the player would never see them and it would just take down the framerate unnecessarily. Thanks for the suggestion though, I still have to mess around with these two options and maybe I can get em to workout better. Any others?

Can’t an artist load it up in his modeller and touch up the mesh by himself?
