I just noticed that there is no section for industry topics. Obviously this is a major factor in the development of games, being that it should influence where you should go with it. So, would it be too much to ask for an in-the-industry section?

www.gamasutra.com or www.gamedev.net (articles/industry) for articles from the industry about the industry.

This site does not need it (as it is primarially about game development). However some people on this site know about the industry, and if you have a query, simple ask.

Thanks.

You really think industry stuff falls out of DevMaster’s domain? I wouldn’t have said so.

Most of the industry related sides are not really about development, more about the beast that is behind one side of development, we rarely have any ads for paid positions and only a few people from the “industry” post on here.

That said, we do have a few articles and the like, but I merely wanted to point out that Gamasutra is simple the best site for all things industry and GameDev.net has some great articles and listings.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

There isn’t a forum for it simply because there isn’t a demand for it as yet. When we get flooded with all sorts of industry questions and topics then we’ll need a new forum :).

Yeah, I agree with Methulah. This site is about programming and other such technical stuff, not about business models and product lifecycles, and I like it that way :)

After you have been recieving “Inside Gamasutra” and “Game Developers Magazine” you realise that the industry is fairly boring and corrupts a lot of good people (e.g. Variant/SOE).

Gamasutra is just such a good place for industry related stuff that devmaster doesn’t need the hassle.

Sorry if anyone here works for SOE =)

Jeez… I kinda feel like I just open Pandora’s Box.

I still can’t see how you all would say that the industry has nothing to do with the development process. Most all games are based first off of what’s going on in the industry. I think this is the only kinda work that the advertisers can tell you what to add/take from a game.

Then as for going to other sites, I just really like it here is all. The website does not have anoying moving ads. The people are really good here. And I feel kinda homely here. It’s a good place. I just thought it could be a little better is all.

I am not saying you should leave devMASTER, don’t get me wrong, I am just saying that it is good not to limit yourself to one place, I post on a very irregular basis on gamedev.net and read the articles there more often than I read articles here (in general gamedev.net articles are better then devMASTER).

If you want industry related stuff, there are HUGE amounts of them on Gamasutra, (free sign up).

Anyway, keep posting here, and read some articles elsewhere, for you WILL find some interesting stuff that devmaster cannot offer.

Thanks.
