The Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Demo (I don’t say PoP 2, because that was the Shadow and the Flame) has been released. There’s a bittorrent here. I’ve got 22% of it so far.

What do you guys think? Sands of Time was a great game IMHO, and so long as they don’t tweak too much of the gameplay (except the combat and camera systems) it should work quite well - I thought the last game had just the right balance of combat and “acrobatics” that the series is famous for.

I thought Sands of Time was bloody fantastic. I’ve seen the demo of Warrior Within already - and I’m not entirely convinced that this clever combat system works so well on a PC keyboard, but we’ll see. The demo also has a couple of notable bugs - one big boss got stuck in a corner, and promptly became impossible to damage in any way. Hopefully issues like this will be fixed in the final. I am looking forward to playing this one though. The camera still seems a little crappy in places though…..

I quit sands of time halfway through, and when my room mate finished it, I wasn’t sorry I quit. It had a cool concept but you had almost no control on different fighting moves, the enemies were lame and nearly all identical, and the difficulty only came because there were so damn many of them and you couldn’t save.

Give me combat like Oni any day.

I’ve had those bugs as well. Rather annoying, especially as you can’t save in the demo so when you quit to main menu you have to start a new game. That means I haven’t actually completed the demo.

The fighting has much improved since sands of time, but I don’t know what the enemies will be like. We shall see. Camera issues remain :/
