Now “Doom 3” has gone open source, do you think this engine could be
ported and run well on “decent” mobile devices like iOS, Androind & co

I’m not sure. I guess it depends on the number of poly’s and textures
that the game uses, and the size of the engine. I know Unity games get
ported to IOS and Android, but it looks like they are paying a lot of
attention to file size, etc. I’m pretty sure you still have to light map
on those devices. Real time lighting with shadows is too expensive,
except for maybe a few.
