I’ve done a lot of 2D things with Allegro and I’d like to start trying out 3D programming.

The problem is; for the past 3 days, I have been deciding between engines and I cannot decide

I’ve looked at Cafu, Irrlicht, OGRE(seems a bit hard), Panda3D, and many others but I can not honestly tell which I need.

Again, I’m not making anything serious (I have a friend who is making models for it though) It’s more of a learning experience for me.

Oh, and I program in C++ only. So anything that’s not supportive of C++ is off the list.

EDIT: Before anyone says “Use the search function” Trust me, I have. Anyways what good is it? That’s based on what the OP of those topics want, not what I want.

Why not just use direct x or opengl by itself, thats the way I do it. Do engines really make it any easier?

What is unique about your needs then? What makes your needs so specialized that any of the above engines won’t do?
