Right, i’ve decided to make a game, hopefully im going to make a 3D MMORPG, but i will settle for a RPG for now.

Im going to get right into what i want out of it, You can tell me if it’s possible or not.

I want to make a game thats like Second Life, as it’s pretty basic. I dont want it to be exactly the same though, i want it to be in my own genre. I want it to be further in the future with space travel and worlds. I want this part to be like the Star Wars Galaxies space flight. I want worlds that you can build on and sell and rent out things. I want to make money in the end but it be free to start with.

Now, i’ve been desperate to make an MMORPG for ages, i have been researching MMORPG’s for a Month. I have learnt lots of scripting languages and am currently learning C++ AND C# i have knowledge in HTML, BASIC, Visual Basic, And a small bit of C.

Im in need of help now, i need a team. Some people to help me get through it, ideas, guidance and skills. I need Artists to make the graphical part of the game and some help in programming. I would love if someone could help me.

Just had another idea. I was looking around some forums and was looking at what girls like and boys like, i saw Farmville mentioned and was thinking if i could incorporate that into the game people could make some in game money by owning a farm. I want there to be different classes like in SWG such as Traders (Farmers and Space Miners) and then combat classes and entertainer type classes that make money from dancing and entertaining. I do not mind how long this takes to accomplish i need this to happen it is my life long goal.

Did you read the stickied posts?
Do you have any game dev experience?

If you only know a small bit of C then I don’t think an RPG much less a MMORPG is the place to start…

I’ve made a few games but most with Game Engines. I’ve been doing RPG tutorials and have made a few RPG’s with C but i dont know if that counts as experience if it was a guide. I remember the stuff from the tutorial so i could do it again so i guess it does. Also i learnt the whole of Second Life script, which is just like C++ just with diffrent functions.

This is not the place to recruit a team for your project. If you want to exchange ideas or ask questions about languages, tools, etc. that’s fine, but please see here for the policy about recruiting.

“i have been researching MMORPG’s for a Month”

“i have knowledge in HTML, BASIC, Visual Basic”

Not to be harsh, but I usually am… knowledge of HTML, BASIC and Visual Basic is useless in this field. You are a complete n00b. The only people who would get behind your idea right now, with your empty skillset, you lack of pedigree and your naive optimism, are your friends.

Now, if you are serious about making games (and not just playing them), you need to start learning to be a game developer. This is a career just like any other, full of grunt work, highs-and-lows, years of continued training, conflicts with others, moments of greatness, etc.

Good games don’t just spawn from “want”.

If you are serious, you start building your skillset and game portfolio now, from the ground up.

PS: The secret to success is to start a little smaller.
