hi everyone; i am creating a game…or trying to… and i need some help music wise; since this is my first game to be made, i want anything and everything to be low priced… basically free; and i’m have the most difficult time finding a good sound editor that allows me and my “crew” (as i and others call it) to play around and make pro sounding music. i’d use FLStudio (i like FLStudio, if anyone finds something like it, but free; email me at kalo_compute@hotmail.com) but it’s not free… can someone lead me to a free audio editor like FLStudio?

I’ve never used FLStudio but, since you haven’t mentioned what platform you’re using or even what file format you’re looking for, I’m going to suggest you look into using MilkyTracker. It works on just about any platform and the .XM file format is compatible with several player routines including SDL_mixer which contains a wrapper for MikMod.

Haha, chip tunes rule. MilkyTracker (from the Fast Tracker scene) is not as detailed as Fruity Loops (which is an awesome program by the way), but you can definitely do some cool things with it. They have a set of video tutorials on their website. I highly recommend you watch them.

If you own a synthesizer or a keyboard, you can produce your own music using just that device and a normal sound recorder (using the line-in on your computer). I personally use Adobe Audition with sample playbacks from my keyboard and other instruments. You can download a lot of free tunes from flashkit.com. Just plug one of the loops in and start jamming ;)

TheNut, it sounds nice and everything that is if the Keyboard would have a connection to my computer (in which i don’t) and also i’m getting this program for someone in my “crew” (aka team) and i think he told me his computer sucks, so it might not take so much input…anyhow he isn’t a keyboard player. do u know any other programs simular to FL?

I am a programmer but I also work on FL Studio as a hobby.
Oh boy.. Milky tracker suckd! specially after using FL stodio. getting a professional s/w package at free is not possible. better would be to get a freelancer who cud do the job.
will checkout babbya logic pro also

The best way to get your music is to employ an audio contractor who will agree to a share in the profits of your venture, On the back side of the project instead of up front.
