Are there any full featured (open source/freeware) DirectX Quake 3
loaders out there? The best ones I could find use opengl, the one
DirectX based loader wasn’t very complete since it lacked many of the
things to load and it also didn’t have collision detection.

well it owuld be *nice* if it had collision detection.
It shouldn’t be hard at all to convert one of the OpenGL viewers to D3D.
The APIs are practically the same in functionality.
