IGDA Kicks Off 2004 Scholarship Program for College Students
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - December 8, 2003 - December 8, 2003 – The International Game Developers Association (IGDA), an independent, non-profit association established by game developers for the betterment of the industry, opens the 4th annual Student Scholarship Program today. Twenty-five college students will be awarded complimentary full access passes to the Game Developers Conference (GDC) March 22-26, 2004, opening the doors to coveted conference seminars and panel discussions, show floor exhibits and potential job opportunities. The IGDA's Education Committee and board members will judge scholarship applications.
"The Student Scholarship brings the brightest undergraduate students looking to break into the industry together with the best of the best video game professionals at the Game Developers Conference,” states Warren Spector, studio director of Ion Storm and chair of the IGDA Education Committee. "One of the biggest challenges faced by college students interested in a career in gaming is simply getting out in front of the development community. The Student Scholarship solves that issue.”
Students can now apply online for an IGDA scholarship at www.igda.org/scholarships. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, January 28, 2004. Recipients will be announced in early February 2004. Applicants are required to be full-time college students (or equivalent) and IGDA student members for consideration.
