Age of Empires III to Support Shader Model 3.0

The developers of Age of Empires III, the next version of the popular strategy title, have confirmed that the game will have full DirectX 9.0 functionality, supporting Shader Model 3.0. The game's engine is built with SM3 and features real-time shadows, high dynamic range lighting, fresnel reflectance water, and other high-end graphics goodies. AOE3 is one of the few games to have full support for SM3 this year. The game will be released by the end of this year and will take advantage of nVIdia's "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" scheme.
