International Video Games Competition Commences in the UK

As of June 6th, 12 teams from as far afield as India and China are battling it out to become the winner of Dare to be Digital, the UK's premier contest for new games industry talent. The competition, which has been running since 2000, attracts significant industry attention and allows students passionate about games the opportunity to see their visions realised.

Among the teams taking part are Ergophobia, a team comprised entirely of members from the National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University (http://ncca.bournemouth.ac.uk/). Originality is one of the keys to success in a competition where time is very much of the essence, and Ergophobia's game idea hopes to explore fresh concepts. The team's lead programmer, Ben Chandler, says "Technically, the game presents many challenges. However, I am quietly confident in the team's ability to see it through to implementation."

Dare 2007 is taking place at 3 locations around the UK; Dundee, Belfast and Guildford. For more information and progress diary of the teams involved visit http://www.daretobedigital.com/.
