If you in the US, then by all means, use Kickstarter. But you can't go with Kickstarter (e.g. you reside outside of US or a non US resident), then you can go with Rockethub or Indiegogo. However, regardless of the platform you choose, a proper pitch and marketing is still needed for your project to be successfully funded. Like all games, the real challenge is to get notice and funded. There are hundreds if not thousands of projects seeking funding, and how to get notice is partly the picture here. You have to be honest in your approach and have a realistic goal for both your game and the fund you asking for.

All there platform, Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Rockethub has its own audience. Kickstarter is like the standard of the crowdfunding, and the audience are somewhat larger. Hope this help.

There are people who would suggest you using some complete solution, some suggesting open source solution + modifications and some (like me) suggesting doing it from scratch ... and yes our company do most things from scratch - we have pretty good reasons for it.

So basically it depends on people who you're gonna hire.

Very True and I agreed with the above statement. All depends on your team or the people you going to hire

There is no perfect Engine. There are many game engine that you can take a look, such as Esenthel, Unity3D, UDK, CryEngine, Havok Vision, Source and many other. However all come with their own pros and cons, do its up to you and your team to have a feel which engine that suit them the best. But if you feel none of the engine suit, and if you have the money to spend, of coz can hire engine developer and develop your own engine and tools. Developing your own engine also give you the flexibility but of coz it also means you need to spend more time on developing the engine as well as your game, where as if you licensed it from others, you can focus on making the game instead. So up to you mate
