I recently beat the Uplink demo mode, and really enjoyed the hacking style game. The only thing I see is it could have been more realistic rather than on point in click tools, they could have had a scripting language and command line available. Is there any other games similar, preferably free. I would like them to Linux or at least WINE compatible, but titles will suffice (I can just check them out in the WINE DB).

P.S. What is a good site with a lot of game listings and links.

I don't really know of other similar games with the hacking theme, sorry. But I would refer you over to Defcon which is made in a similar style (and by the same company). It's pretty fun and has a nice similar feel.

On the side though I would just like to say that a lot of people have been complaining about the overly simplistic form that Uplink had, and while I personally would have liked to see a more console based approach, I think it would be far more complicated than most non-developers could really handle and still have fun with it.

I am messing around with BS Hacker: Replay and it has a console based approach that is really nice. It has simplified Unix-style commands for file manipulation and downloads and such, in fact other than bouncing it is console based. Maybe this could be the type of game I could develop later in my development. It would be cool.

Why not join in the real game? It's a lot more challenging and fun out here ;)

You mean Uplink, or real hacking? I know if you meant real hacking, or cracking depending on how underground-politically correct you want to be, you were kidding. I would really like to know about more games of this genre, it is almost addicting.

I know there was a kind of software version of "decking", the Shadowrun (tabletop rpg, not the videogame) version of hacking, but I can't find it anymore. And it is probably only interesting if you know Shadowrun.

I have beaten BS Hacker Replay Demo, but would like to know of other pure hacking games, but anything like that would be appreciated.
