Lets just say I had a truly exceptional and well worked out game idea (and maybe I do ^^), with no programming started. For the sake of the hypothetical I'd have 95% of the bullets on Dewi's sticky worked out.

What would be the possible directions to take after that point?

Write it down, learn some basic skill needed to build the game. Like production of concept art. Finish the design document you just wrote down with those skills and then ask again...
If Prolog is the answer, what is the question ?

It's written down, or at least the majority of the features have been written out and explained in detail.

Ill get right on that art thing!
