Hi,
I can adjust gamma for fullscreen and desktop independantly on my video card control panel, so although I can get fullscreen applications to look fine this way with desktop apps It makes the desktop colors look so awfull with a gamma of anything more than 1.0.

i need about 1.5-2.0 to make my apps look ok, so im wondering if the desktop colours are all pre gamma corrected, is there any way to improve this situation ?

idealy the control panel would have a gamma control wich could independantly control just 3d video output, but I gues they either havnt thought of that yet or its not easily done.

Im using OpenTK for my my map editor, it would be nice to do the correction inside the editor, but this doesnt seem to be possible, although I gues a pixel shader could do it id rather not involve pixel shaders, is there a call to adjust the gamma or does this too adjust the whole screen ? that wouldnt be too bad as long as it didnt leave the screen at max gamma when it crashes.

im also wanting to compare the lighting effects to make sure it looks the same in the game as it does in my editor, the game (old unreal) has little or no gamma corection.

could I adjust all the windows colours so they are un gamma corrected ?
maybe changing some of them with the windows setup would do for some, but not al apps use those, the icons would have the same problem.

many thanks

Gamma corrections are applied to the monitor, not your graphics card. I don't know of any other way than using a pixel shader to do it, sorry.

If you want to change the windows colors, you can create a color profile under desktop settings, I think, and ship that with the editor. The only problem with this approach is, that different monitors need different gamma corrections...
