Anybody else found this problem ?:
Compiled the project for the SLSM ( Split level shadow mapping ) using 2008 Express, Vista, DX10. It runs BUT the whole scene looks sort-of 'inside out'. ( 2008 converts the supplied .dsp first of course ).
Not had this problem on another couple of the demo projects supplied with
the disk....

not really sure about the GPU Gems series or thier example programs, but I've personally never bought a book like that that at least one of the samples eithre didn't work or produced really bizzare results. Even in the DirectX SDK (november 2007), the "post process scripting" sample has inverted colors and the mesh blinks on and off as I rotate it. On other computers it works fine though.
It's just a strange compatability issue from not testing and debugging enough. Games are the same way except they usually catch and fix most all those problems. It's a money/time issue.

The book itself is great, lots of good stuff. the supplied executable runs for this demo, but when I compile it it goes all odd...

Hardly is visualstudio. More probable that the problem is in one of the libraries. Of course different SDK versions are the most probable cause. Check which one the original executable is using (it should be fairly simple, use depends, check which d3dx_ library it's linked with).

Yes.. the original demo .dsp was using 2005... but I couldn't get 2005 to install on my Vista/DX10 setup so I used 2008....
