Just wanted to say how proud I am with myself after I finally managed to get Skype running on VectorLinux 5.9 STD. It took several nights of kernel tweaking and a dozen of recompiles but it's worth it :P I'm now on to the nearly impossible task of getting the legacy ATI drivers 8.28.8 for my Radeon 9250 to work on the new kernel line 2.6.22.X. And then I could perhaps play some Q2 as reward, I guess... But it's always interesting to proof, that the effords of people, not giving s**t about what they are developing are not that useless after all! Stay out of trouble and always buy NVidia! Good night!

How exactly is wasting several nights worth doing something that would take me a couple minutes on Windows or Mac OS?

Well I don't know, it's a complex psychological matter. Of course I realize it's pathetic but I can't stop thinking that I failed something :) And further I gain supernatural knowledge of the internels of the system. Oh heck, I don't know, it's like playing Soul Reaver/Blood Omen, you can't stop till you reach the end.

Btw, getting the ATI drivers running is easy, it took me no more than 15 minuttes last time I tried (with source editing and recompiling).
