Hello,

I've taken up an interest into 3d game development recently and I want to learn more! I've been working as a webdeveloper a few years in java and php so I've got a programming background. I've had a little bit of c++ during my school days but I'm not fluent at the language.

So what I wanted to ask, where do I start? Off course I already bought a book about c++ but where to go from there? I want you to recommend me some good books that I should read.

I hope you can help me.

I am also new to game development, my thread has alot of good advice: it is called "I am new and I need help!", some advice that I have compiled over the last few weeks: start with a small 2D clone, progress slowly (learn something new with each game), don't expect the world's next hit MMO or any game for that fact. Here are some links: http://www.nehe.net , http://www.lazyfoo.net , http://www.gamedev.net , http://www.sourceforge.net , and http://www.con3d.gamedev.net . A few book: C++ How To Program by H.M. Deitel/P.J. Deitel, if you are on a budget get the one that is just called C++ How To Program, not the 2-6 edition, it will run cheaper. The newest has an appendix on game development but runs somewhere between $65-$75 a copy! The first is just about as good for just core C++.
