Hi everyone, Excessum here, I just joined up after reading through a couple of forums and thought I’d share my experiences in game development.

For anyone fresh into game making, I recommend RPG Maker 2k, it utilizes ASCII language in a easy to use graphic interface. I built 2 or 3 small rpg’s with it, exploring the different uses of the language and switches. A lot of what I learned harkened back to the days of the old school Final Fantasy series. The system has great documentation and tutorials to learn quickly and get quick results. Sometime in the future I plan to upload a few examples of my work to my webpage (in progress). The most exciting part of this project was trying to use the somewhat limited goals of the game to develop ideas that were outside the general scope of the game.

From here I applied college course learning to gaming, tinkering with languages such as visual basic, C++, and Java. All have various applications that are great to apply to gaming. Unfortuneately, almost all of my applications are stored on my home pc (I am currently deployed to the great sandbox in the east) so it will probably be a good while before I can share my work in these fields.

My newest task is working with Blender, Im playing with the 3D design aspect at the moment, and hopefully in the next month or so will start diving into the game engine that comes packaged with it. I am currently working with a combination of free downloaded models and developing my own 3D creations, this has been a great exercise in creativity and learning. I look forward to sharing my accomplishments with the community in the near future.
