So is it just me, or is this REALLY HARD!!! Making music is insane.
If anyone has any tips/tricks/ or great programs that they would recommend a true beginner, I would greatly appreciate it.
I have about 10 years of musical background with several instruments, but as far as making music on the computer goes, I'm spent.
I wish I could take music from albums, but then it's copyright infringement. Does anyone know how much you have to pay to use a song in a game? I'm an indie developer so I'm not sure if they would even consider me.

It is a good question.
For beginners it is easy to find it difficult to find the time to learn a new program. There is alot to know. A good starter program would be something like FL studio. The user interface is basic. You can download the demo version online and then register it for $150.00
FL studio is great for sound effect creation. Lets say you have made some home recordings of things banging and clanging. Through your sound card you can load your samples into a file. Then start Fruity Loops Studio.
In the Settings menu, go to the file icon and select your file of samples. Close FL studio and start it again. Your sounds are now available on the left margin under your file name. Now comes the fun part. Just open the file by clicking it (in the browser, left hand margin) and drop it onto the channel window. A sampler window opens and now you can tweak the sound in lots of ways.
