Hi !

Just crossed a line to Game modding. And I tried it with FarCry, but well, it does not match with my skills/likings regarding modifying it.
The SDK is quite not clear to me, and I seem not to understand the docs. (Well thats for me!)
And worst to me was, I cannot export a "Map" to any 3D-Format for creating a crisp rendering still/movie. :-(

I have some, but not expert grade, skills with Blender, and would like to use it for "fooling" around with some games.
Adding buildings, vehicles and other assets along with some programming.

Are there any games which have
- FPS elements (like Unreal/Doom)
- Car/Vehicle cruising (like Need For Speed)

I obviously have less than no clue at this time, but I'd like to get some more skills in this area.
(Re)Creating a city to be used in _that_ game, which I don't know if it exists. But OTOH, as said I have no clue yet.

THX for bearing with me !

Thought I'd answer you before some of our ruder colleagues told you to knock off...believe it or not, they probably still will.

Why don't you try an open-source FPS to fool around with? Here is a list to Google:

Nexiuz
Sauerbraten
Tremulous
Warsow
OpenArena

Some of these have some pretty darn good graphics, and if you know enough C++ you can make your own whole game from them.

They're mostly all built from the Q3 engine.

I did not knew this ones in particular, but I'd have a look at this path.

Honestly, I am way too lousy _and_ lazy to try a game from scratch. So my best quess is to try some modding first.

I understand, there is also some effort involved, but surely it is less an effort, than writing even a clone of what's yet there from scratch.

Me is too lazy going through all the steps. I first want to try it the easier way.

Thanks for your reply.
