SPECIAL LIMITED PROMOTION:
Full source code to the first 500 developers for only $100!!!!!
Don't miss out on this amazing deal! Power Render 6 is a commercial quality 3D engine and normally we license the source code to companies for $5500. A lot of work has gone into this engine but at this price we feel that not many people have a chance to see it. We would like to have a LOT MORE people using and sharing content for the engine. We would like you to help participate and build this community. In this special promotion the first 500 developers can buy the engine with full source code (that's 300,000++ lines of stable DirectX9 C++ code, previously used in several commercial titles) for ONLY $100!
This special offer is only available to new customers. Existing customers may also purchase a copy if they wish.
Check the website www.powerrender.com in the next few days for information on how to order.

You can now order this online! I've also reposted the demo version (256 mb) in case you missed it earlier.

There is no catch. I got tired of working on code that only a handful of people would get to see.
Plus with PR7 coming later this year I had a choice to make. Either force people to buy the new version and let PR6 die, or make it available for everyone. I chose the latter. I know someone will have a use for this engine. Enjoy.

OT:
I always find it nice to meet one of the few old farts that where around when I started and are still here.
I'm not making games anymore and thus don't hang out in any game-dev forums but this anymore. But still - I run across old and new posts you wrote quite often. My first contact with you is more than 15 years old. We had a discussion about software rendering in some compuserve board (that's a loooong time ago). I don't know what exactly it was about, but it must have been inspiring enough that I still remember your name...
Big respect for still working on power-renderer. I haven't seen anything (or maybe I'm unaware of it) for a couple of years, but power-renderer came a long way and I remember the times when it wasn't much more than a sprite blitting 2D game library.
Respect for have such a long breath!

Hey Nils,
>I always find it nice to meet one of the few old farts that where around >when I started and are still here.
Nice to see someone that remembers me. Power Render has been around a very long time and it's weird when I get new people that have never heard of it and think it's something new or fly by night. And sol_hsa... nice to see people from the ol' demo scene. I created the first 3D accelerated demo using DirectX with Power Render (Trip, TP97).

Ah yes I remember being on compuserve for about a year. I was still learning back then :)

I've done a few other things, like worked for Digital Extremes as the lead for Adventure Pinball, and worked on a next gen engine for 3 years that was never complete (but bits and pieces are now being incorporated in PR7). PR is something that I will never stop developing! It has been 13 years now and it's still challenging and rewarding.

The 'catch' question was basically to ask whether the garage sale price included all the support etc. from the full price version =)

The level of support won't be quite the same. I used to give top priority to source code licensees and would even do custom work for them. My top priority now will be finishing PR7 before year end. If it's something I can answer easily then I'll give support. If it's something that needs more programming work I most likely won't be doing it unless I can use it in PR7 too.
Still, I expect I will be doing more work and support on PR6 now that the source code is affordable to anyone. It's not an open source project so I'll still be maintaining new modifications submitted by people.

Will we get a free update to PR7 or a discount price?

There is a mirror of the trial version on filefront now.
You will have the ability to upgrade to PR7 when it's available. I haven't decided on the price yet.
