Friends, I think Wii is the best game for those players who have gain alot of weight by sitting on their couch. I think it will be better if you watch out using the Wii for fitness when that fitness involves flinging around one's arms without hitting or catching anything. One of the Emergency medicine docs I know says that folks can develop "Wii Shoulder" by playing tennis with the Wii. If one justs thinks about the physics of forces it makes sense. While playing tennis with the Wii, one is swinging but not actually hitting a ball. The force of the the swinging arm is not dissipated by actually hitting a ball. It is dissipated in the shoulder muscles (SITS) of the rotator cuff. Great way to develop a roator cuff tendinitis.

The Wii is a video game console not a game...

Besides, I don't know if you've ever played tennis in real life, but hitting the ball does not dissipate that much force! Your arm and racket are a lot more massive than the ball. I quite doubt Wii exercise puts you any more at risk of injury than playing sports.
