Hi, the last few days I received a few spam messages like:

Quote

Ultimate youll never, worry about having advanced here.
Ways companies building products.
Edit, publish format, updated designed connect?

Or

Quote

Not logged in login?
The, systemin whenever hover over one of items underlying?
Now cart view powered by xmb nexus?
Seenheard this before go down road debugging.

That's all. The mail just contains this in plain text, and the same repeated in HTML. No image, no exploits, nothing.

See, the recent spam with random text and an image containing the actual message: okay. But what would drive anyone to send messages like this? All the time and efforts? With no result (at least not visible to me). I don't get it at all.

Hi Roel,

I think these spams are used to test the existence of your email account. Some spam filters not only filter spam, but return a "email does not exist" message in hope that the spammer will remove your email address from their list.

My stuff: torus.untergrund.net <-- some diy electronic stuff and more.

Most of the spam that I get is of that variety, or image spam with similar content - it's basically what dave_ said, it's to overload your spam filters so they don't know what's spam and what's not.

Thanks for the answers! I also considered the address existence check, like Nils said, but the sender's addresses do not exist, so they won't receive error messages back.
