I'm in the process of writting a few articles regarding general software development for work (const correctness, unit testing, templates etc.), and most of them would be suitable for inclusion on web sites as they are generic enough not to give away 'company secrets'...

My question is, where should they go?

I'd like to post them on the Wiki, as that seems a suitable place for them to go, but to be honest the Wiki looks badly under-used, and I don't want to write something that never get's read or is looked at one or two times.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the DevMaster wiki (and I've contributed many times in the past), but as an outlet for my work (and as a tool for developers looking to improve their ability) it doesn't seem to be doing it's job (hummm, this started as a question, but now seems like a rant about the wiki - sorry about that).

Any suggestions?

What's wrong with posting them on your site? You can also give Dev Master a copy and they'll post it under the articles section. If you want your article seen though, it's best to post it everywhere. Although many here would think you a cutthroat for doing so =)

Actually, posting it on the wiki isn't a bad idea. We could add a link to it in articles section like any other article we have, and so it will show up on the main page. Also, we can announce it in the news. Basically, we'll make sure it gets decent exposure Does this address your concern?

I was planning to host it on my website, but if it's on the site then the number of people who will read it will be drastically reduced - and if I'm writing something I would like it to be as useful as possible to as many people as possible :)

It will take me a few weeks to get everything read (work is extremelly busy at the moment), but when I finally finish things, the wiki I guess is the place to go.

Post the article on your site and post the URL to a number of link aggregators like Digg, Reddit, hackernews, etc. And of course, post it in any forum you are frequenting.

I still exist, I just generally don't post of forums now-a-days, though I do lurk quite often. Most of my writing is done on my blog, and I generally moan about the games industry on twitter.

Hey who knows, maybe this post will be the start of me posting more regularly?

Best way to do this is to put it up on your blog, and then post in well-frequented and focused link aggregating sites like dzone. Reddit and Digg are very popular, and worth a try to see what happens, but IMO attract legions of idiots who's game is to bash and be as snarky as possible for popularity points...
