Mahabharata is a story of epic proportions. I doubt if it could be portrayed in a game fully or accurately because of its immense complexity. The wikipedia article doesn't do justice to how large the epic actually is. Maybe a very small portion of it, like the run up to the battle at Kurukshetra could be an interesting game to do.

It's not an idea for a game. It's maby a storyline, but I see no apparent game mechanics in the wikipedia article.
