G'day,
I am looking to create a project which is a very simple modelling program, I want to model an image using several different objects, and then allow the end user to replace a particular object in the image with another.
Basically i want to create a modelling program with a professional looking interface and the ability to limit my end users manipulation of the model.
Any thoughts on a good engine or language i could do this in?
I am relatively new to this stuff, done a little openGL coding, played with a few game engines but nothing seems to fit what I'd like to create here.
Cheers.
Looking for a language/engine.

Hmm dont know but how about blender ? I mean all functions that you would ever need is right there now all you need is to make your own interface atop blender. Just a quick thought.

Blender is a 3D package. It allows users to create, animate, texture and render 3d objects. Its pretty fully featured. Personally I think Blender has an abominable UI from an usability point of view.
It's difficult to give you advice with your limited requirements.
What do you need? Look at the features of existing packages.
Google SketchUp is quite simple.
Probably even a simple 3D modelling program is too complicated for you to create. You'd save yourself a lot of time if you get something in.
However, I did help my brother create a simple (linux and windows) modelling program, it took him about 6 weeks. The main thing that saved him most of the time was using Qt instead the alternatives.
