Hi, I´m a newbie, yes, I am!

I played around with 3dgamestudio and blender´s Game Engine. I also maked a game in The Game factory.
I think I know enough about design in both 2d and 3d, not a pro at all,but know basics stuff to make a playable game.
Now I want be more complete in my skills and want to be a programmer too.
I found out that Im stuck if I cant program and I want to be on a higher level than making simple click&play-creations.

I tried to learn C++ with the book C++ for dumies, I got tired fast cuz it was playing with numbers alot in tutorials, and Im not big fan of pure math, but still wanna master a good programminglanguage.
I will work hard to learn, but want the best tips to start out.

well, first question is: what language is best to start out with? my final goal is to have skills enough to program primitive gameengines and a bit advance scripting for AI, gravity and stuff.

first of all, what is probably the best language for me? Wanna start out easy and fast as possible to learn create very primitive games with it, but not wanna rush and going confused.

EDIT; sorry for misspelled title

I guess pretty much any language is good, be it dark basic or c++. You can't run away from the math forever in any case.

What you might find more enjoyable is to follow, for example, my graphics/game programming tutorial along with whatever c++ book you're reading. It's a bit more practical that way, but I won't promise it to be easy. =) The url is http://iki.fi/sol/gp/

If you don't like maths, then you must learn it well enough to not have an aversion to it. Only then can you try game programming.

For the whole experience to be easier, I recommend that you start out with python and learn pygame. Once you have an idea of programming, you can perhaps move to C++, if you still think programming is your thing.

There is no way around the math, sorry.
Even programming non-game applications it's all about math. Many programming algorithms (if not all) largely used have a mathematical proof.

My point is: Math is needed. Programming is a science. Science needs math. Period.

After that it's just pure old fashion hard work, coffe a sleep deprevation.

good luck!

EvilSmile has a good point. Try Python and PyGame to get started. There is a simple beginners' textbook for learning Python at greenteapress.com/thinkpython/.

hehe, funny u tell me this, I spended some hours today with basics of python, learned program helloworld ( yay, a real haxxor now...not), and begin on input()-synax and stuff..well, I will try my best to learn python, and use it with pygame or/and blender..

Then I maybe go for c++

Thats a good idea. Don't start with C++ if its your first programming language because its the hardest language to learn IMO. Once you get the basics of programming and understand all the maths, then i suggest you go for C++ because its the best out there for games.
