I just read this and thought it could be a useful read for some of you, too.

I especially like the last paragraph, being able to go from glowing fire to non glowing smoke without any state change.

Possibly some of you knew that yet, but I hope it's something helpful for some others, anyways :)

Yeah, share the love and meet the pain of premultiplied alpha...

Try doing premultiplied alpha with fog on fixed function hardware without burning an extra texture stage or two :)

First: I never used fog. (I was one of the first N64 owners, I HATE fog :D)

Second: Fixed Function Hardware? *cough* (Yeah, I know, people still have that quite often...)

And if you consider non-PC gaming platforms, then several hundred thousands of those are being sold, you know, "these days". ;)
