Hello, I'm new and I wanted to introduce myself and see if I could find help here. I've been to other programming sites for games, but none have been able to actually help me out. I'm hoping you guys won't get frustrated with me. I'm only 16, and I'm a student. I have played many games, and am fascinated by the work that goes into them, BUT, I am also fascinated at what I could do to make better. I'm wanting to make a sort of 2d MMORPG game, sort of like Wyvern, http://www.cabochon.com/, if you've never heard of it. It's made of Python, Java, and some of the files are "ARCH" files, (I think), and it's ran off of a server. I'm not sure how much information this is, but I would love to make a site that deals with a game similar to that. I love the physics of the game, I love the simplicity yet how complex it is. I'd love to make this a hobby of mine, something I could work on for awhile. I'm new to this whole programming thing, so where exactly do I start? How can I make a 'world'? How can I make a 'character'? Where do I go and test this? Please help me.

Hey Gershore, and welcome!
There's a lot of information here, so make sure to give it a good read. Any specific questions, the forum will be more than apt to answer.
Anyhow, try these links for a starter:
1.- http://www.devmaster.../wiki/Main_Page -- The Wiki, it holds all good starting points.
2.- http://www.devmaster...read.php?t=6452 - A thread entailing what to expect if you want a 'team', and some links to help you out.
3.- http://www.devmaster...ame_Programming - A quick intro to what goes on and what needs to be done.
4.- http://www.devmaster...uilding_MMORPGs - If you plan on building an MMO, this is a must read.
Anyhow, don't be discouraged, but definitely take a mental inventory of your experience, time, and willingness to work on some not-necessarily-fun stuff. ;)
Happy learning.
