Hi all.
I'm the project leader of a project which is due to arrive in beta form late 2006 - early 2007.
The game will be based on our own improved version of a certain game engine.
Thusfar the game is called 'Oceans'.
The game will be a MMOFPS, similar to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Skill and strategy will be a key part of the game to win. The battles will be fought on ships. Players will be on the ships and can also use weapons on the ships. We're working on some sketches of the idea. Skill is precise, but the battles will be fierce.
This project originally began in late 2005, however we halted further production in early 2006 because our graphics artists were not motivated enough, and were slowing the project down considerably.
This is where this message comes in.
We keep contact mainly through MSN Messenger, simply because of the quick and easy communication that can be delivered, and at this stage it will be a requirement as generally instant replies aren't a factor of e-mails. MSN (or Live) Messenger is one of the most popular instant messengers, as you may know. So please, if you don't have it, do sign up with your existing email and install it.
We require individuals who are online often.
One or two of the reliable 'staff' from the old team are back for the ride. However, we are still advertising for programmers, and so on.
Here's what we require:
Programmers (Using AngelScript. High-level 'game' scripting using Open Source Angel Script (C-style Scripting)
Concept Artist - Limited Positions (required to assist the art team and programmers in showing them how the game shall look. sketches will be part of the job. )
Modellers (modellers will work on character/player models, vehicles (the ships), weapons, and some enviroments)
Animators (animators will do the usual tasks including reloading of guns, player model animation, and so forth.)
Level Designers - Limited Positions (level designers are required for help in designing the ship's map feel, and designing levels for the ships to actually go on. This should be resonably easy considering the areas will be water and levels will generally consist of wide open spaces [sea])
Modelling packages supported by the engine:
* Motion Builder FBX (.FBX)
* 3ds Max, Maya, Lightwave, SoftImage/XSI, Motion Builder & others
* Lightwave native object & scene format(.lwo, .lws)
* 3d Studio (.3ds)
* Alias (.obj)
* Milkshape 3d (.ms3d)
Feel free to apply for multiple positions, if you think you can handle the workload. Please note that the head programmer position is filled, however we are looking for art managers to manage the art team. This person needs to be extremely well spoken, online often, well organised, and proficient in keeping track of a team, giving and taking orders and ensuring the team is happy.
Sound / audio positions have been filled.
What we don't require:
"General graphics" persons: Sorry.
"I might be able to help out with one or two images" people.
"I might be able to fit in some time over the holidays" people.
"I can learn if you teach me" people
PLEASE NOTE: We obviously didn't make this clear to some of our last staff members. This is not a lazy project. This is not something you can add to here and there. I personally don't care how any member of the team uses his or her time, as long as they're contributing to the project often, and actually contributing to bringing it closer to beta. I may sound tough, but I'm attempting to keep this project as tight and as running as possible. We're really a lovely bunch
If you'd like to work on a project and have your name on it, but can't be bothered going in to an office to work, or can't kind find work currently, or you would like to test your skills and have your name on something before you finish your course and university for the subject, or if you'd like to be involved in something we believe is destined to become a hit, or if you'd like to play your own game with fans, then this is for you.
As mentioned.. This is a collaborative MOD team project, and so obviously no one will be profiting from it at this stage in development. When it's close to finishing, we will use our publisher contacts to see if they are interested, and if the game earns profit from any of the many avenues we are considering, then each individual working on the project will earn money based on their position and how much they've dedicated to the project (time and amount). But for now it's for enjoyment of a finished product, more experience, and references for the future. That said; There are some nice perks that come with it.
We require individuals who can take orders, and who can work in a team, and are proficient in sharing information within your group (eg; programmers, or graphics artists). Because that's what you'll be doing.. working together, and sharing developments, and organising yourselves, aswell as listening to the manager of your particular section of the project. The good thing about this project is: you get a say. A big say.
When the project is close to completion, a website will be launched with forums and blog which each staff member can contribute to.
We're asking for people who are proficient in what they work in, and people who are responsible and spell / communicate well. We need motivated people.
As with anything, there is a selection process and we pick people that stand out.
If you're interested, email or MSN me at: Jacobjac@gmail.com
Look forward to it
