If there was a 3d designers forum on this site so programmers could like meet up with 3d designers and artist to create a kickass game or something or they could talk to one another about ideas

Hey there :)

Basically, this is a good idea, seeing most projects actually start out with usually just a programmer (.... if even that much... )

However, there are various points which speak against such a forum.

First thing, you needed to attract some population, some actual artists and designers to this forum. Seeing these are quite spare anyways these days, and that there are pages on the net specifically created for the more artistic of us, I guess this won't work that easily. We don't have any content for designers onsite, and we don't have a basic population that is qualified to answer any art related questions.

Think about it:
If you had a question related to, maybe, C++ template programming to discuss, why should/would you post on polycount, rather than on devmaster ?

In conclusion, if you come into any art related issues, there already are lots of boards to post on, boards which will provide you with much more support than we ever could.

Cheers,

Wel im nto the best of drawers but im and average guy when it comes to 3d modeling...i know 3D studio max ok and i have yet to explore what i can do in Maya, i like coding though. I tried it and i dont think i have the brain processing ability to do it i had so many errors and i tried to debug it like 600,232,334 times

But if there are any 3D model communities that you know of that make full body ik's and rady to use models for the game please tell me.

And i do agree though it would be hard to attract an artistic crowd and the change would be brutal. But its not like this is my site so i cant command the admin to do anything. o well

And does it always just start out with a programmer? Why not a game designer or an artist with a good knowledge of how to start a project

We already tried the 'community project' idea a few months ago, and it never got anywhere...also, the Game Design forum sounds pretty much like the place you're describing.

Ahh yes, the community project... Check out my ubber leet engine render: http://www.devmaster...read.php?t=4683

I use to do a lot of render posts here. Since I was the only one who posted such rubbish, everyone thought I was nutty... ;) I still remember that knighthood render I did for nomad's 100th post or some weird thing a couple years back. Ahh, the good old days...

I just went through these pages and think that we should start another community project. Let's just hammer out the design document and we can get this thing rolling in no-time!

It was the Coding Standards that inspired me.

i think this is a good idea. I work allot in 3d modeling software such as Maya and 3DS Max personally and i think it would be a good idea to add a forum where 3d Modelers can discuss and share 3d models for their project :)

hi There

ya'all

i frequent an architectural viz website, www.cgarchitect.com
and in a post/Thread it evolved into (my doing) how about making

some online or gaming 3d models from all The 3d projects That we do
literally hundreds if not Thousands of 3d cg people hang out at This website

and if anyone would like To Try To combine efforts, i myself or others
just might have some 3d projects That would be so cool/kewl To Turn into

something more useful, see This link

http://www.cgarchite...html#post140027

just an idea, but some of us 3d Type peoples DONT know how To do code
or To make an architectural project into some kind of 3d online/game format

my quote

"we should have some kind of contest (i like starting contests)!!
where we build build online a 'community' online building of sorts

and Then be able To 'play' with This, run around and do Things

**

i dont know how To do This
i dont know who does know how To do This

but we could always (maybe) find someone who does know"

**

biggest obstacle is That most work if for hire/clients etc
but i am sure people would have some 3d doodles or would LOVE To do

something a bit more fun (just for once)

**

well, what do you Think????

just an Idea

Thanks

Randy, i just joined so i am Totally new here

oops Take 2

(The original idea was To shoot at clients while They are in The office)

**

"is There any way To use These platforms as an arch gaming program?
could you imagine The fun at work, if you could load up your latest job

and chase, kill and shoot The bloody/gory hell out of The client(s)
while demonstrating To Them just how nice Their new bldg will look

just an idea

my 12 year old is doing 3d graphics on somekind of game engine, unreal??"

randy
