Project name:
Land of the Mirror(name is subject to change)

Brief description:
This started as my idea to create an RPG, with elements from both the old school 2D RPGs(such as the first Final Fantasys and Chrono Trigger), the first 3D RPGs(such as Final Fantasy 7), and implementing some newer ideas for combat and other aspects.

Target aim:
The aim is to create a great, professional(as professional as we can get it to be), demo to get a publisher to pick it up.

Compensation:
If the game is picked up by a publisher, the team will be included in the contract, stating each member recieve an equal cut.

Technology:
Platform - Windows 98/2000/XP
Language - C/C++
As far as libraries and engines, these decisions will be made with the lead programmer to see which ones will work best.

Talent needed:

1-2 Concept Artist - Will work with me to create the world of Alterna and design the characters.
2-3 3D Modelers - Making the meshes for the game
1 Lead Programmer - Overseeing all technical workings of the game, as well as doing a lot of the programming.
2 Programmers - Will work with the Lead Programmer in programming the game

I currently have a design document in the works, but rather finish it once I have a programmer enlisted, so I can write it realisticly rather than just writing about features I'm not even sure are possible programming wise. Here is the current story idea, much of it is subject to change and each team member will have a chance to voice his ideas for the game:
The land of Alterna was always peaceful. Existing as a gateway between the different realms in the universe, none gave it much notice. Only a few people lived within Alterna, in several villages dotting the landscape. What many didn't know even in the villages except for a select few, was that this seemingly insignificant bridge world was in fact the very keeper of the cosmos. Each village was in possesion of a fragment of a mirror. When the gods themsleves endowed the mirror onto the worlds, many sought to obtain it to control the very fabric of existence. The battles that ensued over it were so great that the gods created Alterna as a bridge, shattered the Great Mirror and cast the fragments across the land. Even one of the fragments alone has great power and shares much of it with its holder. One of the leaders of the Ancient Scribes of Alterna, Durstan finally let his greed get the best of him and absorbed his village's fragment. The shard did grant him the power, but at a cost. The mirror fragment also revealed the true nature of the person's heart physically. He was turned into a dark lord, half beast and half man. He forever changed his name into Lord Demonri. Lord Demonri enslaved the peaceful villages, though the remaining elders fled into hiding with their fragments. His power is incomplete without the other pieces, and with each new piece his strength increases. Meanwhile, high up in the mountains, a young aspiring mechanic, Thane lives with his grandparents, far from the grasp of the evil Demonri. Thane is reckless in nature and decides to ride his small flying craft prototype high into the mountains, when a terrible blizzard hits and he is thrown down. He loses conciousness, and when he comes too he awakes in an underground spring. In the water Thane finds an enslaved spirit, that tells him of a prophecy once told to her by a god; she would one day be enslaved by an evil king and the one who would release her would be Alterna's hero chosen by divine power. Thane is skeptical and leaves. On returning home, he finds his grandparents slain and their home destroyed. Knowing in his heart that this is an act of Demonri. With blinding fury and pain in his heart he decides that Demonri must be stopped before this happens again. He knows not if he is the one to do it, but he will die if he must trying.
