Hello,
I've played lots of MMO's in recent years and all of them have been missing something, something that could be put right they just needed a bit more imaganation, others went stale after a while because the devs there decided to stop making the gameplay better nd started trying to find more ways of getting money.

Saying I want to make a browser based MMO would be wrong

Saying I want to Design a browser based MMO would be right

I know I couldn't make a MMO, I don't know enough coding and I wouldn't have a clue where to start. I want to design it I have ideas of what a game should be like and I need a team to implement them.

I'm looking for a team of 5 programmers. Or less depending on the comitment level of each. If one person offers to do it all, and spend alot of time on it then I will only need one.

The type of game I'm looking to design would be like these 2:

Zelderex
Ogame

The reward would be any money thats left after paying for things like the server costs. The income would be from the people who pay money to get extra things in the game. Like in both of the above games. I don't care wether I get money for it or not, I just want to good game to play

Anyone intrested please reply here or E-mail: mattjb15@hotmail.co.uk

thanks

I just made a forum: click me

Its a free forum because I can't afford anything, thats why I need people to pay for things, then they get there money back when the game is up and running.

edit: minus the thing about the map and graphics. Might edit that post later to make it more generic so forumers can use that link to shut down hopeful wannabe's. )

actually its different to others, I've looked through most threads and they have not wanted to make a game like this
I'm making the best ever MMORPG with the best graphics
It would be a browser based game, that does not need good graphics it just needs to be easy on the eyes
have little programming experience and I'm rather young.
true I've not got any programming experience, but thats why I'm not claming to be a developer.
I cannot pay you though.
I may be able to pay for somethings, though I wouldn't be getting any of the money that was paid towards the game by users
Here are the jobs we need to actually ever make this game:
- 10 OpenGL Programmers (at least)
- 3 General-Purpose Programmers
- 20 3D artists (for various tasks including concept art, modelling, texturing and General-Purpose art)
- 3 people to maintain the website
Like I said 5 developers max, and thats only if they don't want to dedicate themselves to it, if I find someone dedicated enough to do it by him/herself then I'll only need 1.
OH! We also need someone to donate OVER $400 a month for the server. Without it, it won't be a MMORPG as my computer is broadband and I'd only host 50-90 people MAX.
Anybody that donates would get there money back
I'd need you guys to work pretty much full time
like I said its up to the person How much work they want to do
Again, I can't pay you guys for your hard work but while you won't have any free time for two entire years of your life, you will have the satisfaction of me making a profit and you guys having practiced.
If peole help then they will be rewarded
I don't have a website.
yes I do its just new and empty
I have no idea how to collaborate the work, I have no idea how to bring tasks we've worked on to a master file. How do we do this? I don't know.
If I did what would be the point in asking for help?
Nothing's final yet, no storyline, no idea, I just know I want to make a game and have it original with heaps of PvP and gold.
I'll have finished the storyline and characters by Tuesday
Oh and there'll have to be subscription to play.. $30-$40 a month is reasonable, I guess.
I was thinking £5 a month for extra stuff (optional)

Basically what I'm trying to say is get off my case, why do you post If its no help?

Why do YOU post? Do you really think anyone give you your game for free? Anyone with the motivation to make their own game will allready have their own idea, so why use your's instead?

What he said is, give up now. No one in their right mind is going to program an entire game.

Hey, why don't you go out and program a simple Pong game, with no flaws and make it fluent. That'll take you months. MONTHS. Now imagine making a 2D MMORPG, incorporating all the graphics, the dialog, everything. YEARS.

Browser Based MMO's died years ago. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? People have better computers and they don't want to play CRAPPY games like you're planning to make.

Good luck getting a player base for a 2D game, interest for games like that died what, 10 years ago? lol.

Zelderex
Ogame

crappy games? I know the owners of those games make a fair bit of money of them.

zelderex is run by one developer, he does all the coding, and its the best game I've ever played online.

Constructive criticism about the possible overwhelming size of his project is fine, but there's no need to be an ass about it. Many people play and enjoy browser games or 2D games. I'd wager more people play 2D games than 3D games. Ever heard of a little thing called minesweeper? what about freecell?

Lassaris: If you've ever coded something in your life, which I can argue about, then you should've learned by now, that everybody has DIFFERENT TASTE and everybody can ACTUALLY LEARN SOMETHING if they are guided through it. And, since your posts does not actually relate to the topic in ANY WAY and contain nothing but YOUR PERSONAL VIEW, I suggest you to SHUT THE **** ** and let the guy live his dreams. Besides, have you ever met the guy in personal, so that you can state, how long the coding process of a rather simple PONG game will take? Or you are comparing everybody to yourself?

Thank you!

mattjb15: Have you started to document your ideas yet? I want to take a look and believe that if the game docs are promising, then many companies will be interested in your game from the commercial side so you will be able to afford server and etc.

Mihail121: Dude, be prepared to be censored. DevMaster obviously tolerates wannabe "proffesionalists" more than (maybe somewhat naive) guys trying to get some help.

I'm hoping to have a good plan up by the end of the week, If I can get dreamweaver up them templates of what I want the pages to look like, but at the same time I've been trying to learn a bit of php.

I hope to have the:

buildings
different units
battle system
how guilds will work in the game
and other general things you need to know
