A new version of the C4 Engine demo is now available at the following location for Windows and Mac:

This demo includes new water rendering code, full-scene motion blur, shadow optimizations, and many miscellaneous updates.

Looks good. I found this a while ago while trying to find a program to suit my needs, mind you I found one, but I did contemplate using this for some time.

Which (lowcost) 3D modellers can be used for development with C4? I use Silo which unfortunately doesn't support Collada atm so is there any decent converter/modeller that is not htat expansive?

There's a Collada exporter for Blender, but that's the only free one I'm aware of. For professional packages, XSI would be the least expensive, and it also supports Collada.
