Hi I'm a Sophomore in high school right now and im taking a very interesting course called Video Game Design. Right now we need to make a working game level using Unreal engine Editor 2 or 3D Game Studio, and i chose Unreal. But the teacher doesnt even teach the class anything!!! He doesnt even know how to use the programs!! Not only that, I'm the only student using Unreal, so I cant get help from classmates! So what I'm asking is for some resources, tutorials, or just tips for using unreal engine editor 2. I already have my level design and architecture done, so i just need to add some monsters, a player character, and some interaction with the level. The style of game im making is an action/adventure platforming game (like "Ratchet and Clank" or "Jak and Daxter" etc.) and the player needs to venture through a dungeon. The programs i can use in the class are Maya 5 (i know the basics of it), XSI Mod Tool, and 3D Games Studio. Heres a list of what i need help with:
-Adding Monsters with animations the player can attack
-Adding a player character with animations
-Models and animations for the player character and monsters (low poly count would be best)
-Map triggers like opening doors and pulling switches
-Making the player be able to do some kind of attack
-changing how high the character jumps
Thi is what i need. and i only need the bare minimum. I need to complete this level soon, and the teacher only wants a level that is built with lighting (i have that), a player character (other than the default box), and some level of interactivity (like killing monsters or flipping switches). I know I'm asking for alot but I will appreciate any help!!! I want anything from online tutorials, low polygon 3D models, or just explaining how to do certain things. Please help me this project is due very soon!
I need help with Unreal Engine Editor 2-monsters,player character, and script

I wish they had classes like that when I was in high school. Heck they didn't even have classes like that at my local college.
It sounds to me like you want to write a mod level for an existing unreal game is that correct? Unreal Tournament 2003 comes with the UnrealEd editor that allows you to do just that. You can import meshes and create your level, and place all the monsters by dragndrop.
Do a search on Unrealed. I did a search on "Unrealed Scripting Tutorials" and found all sorts of stuff. Or search for "Unrealed Mod Tutorials"
Have fun!

Hello there:
From the list you have here, there are actually several things your asking, but I'll try to get you on track with what I think your asking. Monster etc. would be considered an actor. For example, if you wanted to place a warlord in a area of your map you would first go to the actor class window. Click on the pawn icon on the editor. this will bring up the actor class window. (Jumping to other monitor..LOL) Then select pawn. This is where you will select different characters or monsters you want to put in your map. Then go to scripted pawns/warlord and click on it. Once you have selected the warlord, go back to your map, and right click and select "add warlord here"
Actor classes are also where you find triggers, turrets, pickup weapons for players, etc. Play around with it.
Hope that helped, and good luck with your project.
Regards:
Datahead
PS: Careful with the warlord He'll kick you butt..LOL

Use old skool monsta tools
that way you don't have to put too much time and energy in for scripting.

Python. It doesn't Byte.
If I had a quarter for everytime some idiot pitched a game with "Like Quake only better" I'd kill him.
And I'd be rich...that too. Almost forgot that part
