Anyone use any software to sync devmaster forum posts to their PDA?
I'm going to be taking a 30 minute bus ride (blech) home in the evenings, I figured it'd be nice to sync up my PDA before I left, and read some forum posts on the way home.
Normally I'd go for an RSS reader, but the RSS that the forums seems to spit out is rather light. There's not a way to beef it up to give more than metadata, is there?
Cheers!

A beefed up RSS feed would be much appreciated

That sounds like a pretty cool idea. Which RSS feed are you currently using (i.e. what link)?

I'm using "http://www.devmaster.net/forums/external.php?type=rss".
The problem is that it just gives me a subject title and metadata. Preferably I'd love to at least get a synopsis, but then again, it's just posts. Wouldn't be bad to get the *entire* post (or at least up to 255 chars, or something).
Just a thought. :)

I sync multiple forums to my Blackberry, but I have the advantage of being able to click the links and read the actual posts. A full-blown RSS feed with post data might be rather heavy, however.

It would be heavy weight, especially considering the neverending ray-tracing discussion: http://www.devmaster...read.php?t=4889
I would use a heavy-weight RSS feed with full forum posts, but I don't know what that would do to your bandwidth.

Shouldn't be *too* heavy-weight, really.
I mean, you'll be getting the same content as you would if you went to the site, minus the graphics/css/etc. All you get is raw content, that can make you decide if you want to come here or not. :)
I dunno: would be interesting to run it for a while and see. I don't think everyone's using RSS, so it's not like it would explode the bandwidth.
Just a thought anyhow. Stop raining on my parade, monjardin! :)

No raining intended. I'm all for a full forum text feed. :)
I just put the unsure face up because I have no idea what the impact would be, or how much time it would take to implement the RSS feed.

Yeah, I know. :)
I just want my ideas to be accepted as holy writ with no downsides being brought up... is that too much to ask? :)

That's probably worse than just getting an RSS feed, for bandwidth. :)
Personally, I'd be pleased if I could get an RSS feed that got me all the comments that would be found under the "New Posts" search. It would be small, but useful.

Well, my Pocket PC has Internet Explorer (I'm normally a Firefox fan, but who cares for the PPC), so the problem isn't the browser, really.
I'll probably just abstain if I can't get a good RSS feed going, but thanks for the hints anyways dave_.
