Hi all,

I am currently looking for an easy to use Level-Editor/SDK to create a MMOG-like environment that is intended to become a virtual world for cooperative learning.
I have looked at Virtools, but the licence policy sucks. I tried Quest3D and it is not userfriendly enough. I checked various Game-Editors (FarCry, Half-Life) but they are lacking the MMOG features that I need. The most promising candidate at the moment is 3D Game Studio because it comes with a true SDK which makes it very scalable and I can program all the features that are not yet available. Since I am not a very experienced programmer that is gonna be the hard way ;-) No seriously, I am looking for a world editor/engine/SDK to create something like WoW - not as sophisticated of course, but a level editor for WoW combined with the opportunity to extend the functionality with a SDK would be great. Do you have a suggestion, or is there a level editor/SDK for WoW?

I hope you can help me. Thank you very much for reading.

Yours,

Fazza

You might want to take a look at Realm Crafter (www.realmcrafter.com). You just have to realize that it is a work in progress at the moment and may take some time yet to mature.

Try Realmforge GDK, it is a user-friendly Axiom port that is made for the easy creation of MMO* games. Failing that, you could try NeL (I don't have a clicky), which is the engine that Saga of Ryzom is based on, and Neverax, the developers have made it open-source for you enjoyment. Good luck.

Thank you for your advice, I will certainly have a look at these software packages.
Is there a trial version of RealmCrafter available?

In the meantime, does anyone have experience with Second life and the scripting within the world?

Talk soon,

Fazza
