im looking for a program you can feed a height map of some sort for terrain, then get it to simulate ocean waves. It doesnt need to be real time, but needs to spit out height maps of the waves.
any one know of any? of been googling and cant find much :-/

I don't know of any software constructed explicitly for this purpose (although there's probably something like that out there). However, a couple articles that you may find interesting:

wow, thanks! i like that last link, now youve got me thinking if i can do it real time + the breakers.
