Hi there I've been developing games as a hobby for a long time now and I'm a great enthusiast. Do any of you guys physically meet up in the really real world? I'm starting up a group in Glasgow if anyone lives around the are I'd be happy to meet you. Has anyone in here organised successful meetups or would be interested in doing so in future? The link is to the Glasgow meet up by the way :)

Boise, Idaho here. I think I work at the only place in the state where a Graphics/DirectX programmer would be needed. Would love to be proved wrong... :)

Tasmania, Australia. Tons of geeks. Nothing to excersize ourselves on but D&D and poor tech support.

You can check if there's an IGDA chapter near your area. They hopld meetings every now and then so you can go to one of those and meet many like minded people.

I'm from Sofia, Bulgaria. Not really a big game programming community there, that's why i'm alone! :) I'm planning to live in west-europe next year though so the things will get better!

It seems to be a common theme that developers want to meetup and actually discuss face to face some of the things on their mind. I know I've learnt more from actually meeting people with experience than I ever have in a forum. You guys should try starting a group, if your lonely for a while take a gameboy else you could maybe meet the perfect match up for your development project!

Sadly there are no other meetings in or near Glasgow but there is plenty of game design course where students have to develop a project in a team for their final year. I'm not in one of these courses but I reckon targetting these students would be a good start for getting the meetings going. Rather than getting loads of nieve semi-interested undermotivated students though I'm more interested in attracting those outside of education who are developers through either employment or enthusiasm for the subject. Anyone have any ideas of where I could find such people?
