It gives me unending pleasure to announce the first public beta release of Defeat in Detail 2, an open source RTS game based on the power of the DarkPlaces engine.

Two titanic armies, a terror collective and a decadent coalition, fight for control of the world's oil supply. In a world dependant on fuel, where black gold has become worth more than yellow, it is certainly worth more than men's lives.

Licenced under the GPL, DiD2 has been in production for over 2 years.

I will try this game out. I like the dead soldiers on the ground :D
I've been into RTS since 1998 when I got my first computer game, StarCraft. I'd played WarCraft at a friends house but too me StarCraft was the best. What kind of strategy game is your game? Do you deploy a certain amount of units at the beginning and it's a deathmatch/capture the resources style or is it build your base up like the War/StarCraft games? Cool the fileplanet server was empty so I got an instant download. I'll leave my comments about it in a few hours...I have to do a chapter in my C++ book.

Edit: Ok well I just tried it and I was pumping out a whopping 5 frames per second....I have no idea why. Has anyone else tried this and gotten the same problem?
