Ahoy.
The concept of making an 3d mmorpg has been a daydream of mine for a long time, however i accept my limitations and stick with what I know best, and the process of making a plot, gathering a team and running everything smoothly is somewhat unacceptable in my current lifestatus, so therfore i would really like to join a team as a sound engineer or even better a "musician". If there are any teams/project that could use some serious beats just let me know.
I realize im not in the position to demand anything but dont bother contacting me if your not 104% serious.
Music needed?

Music is incredibly important - you are a position of demand, although not all gamedevs realise the significance of music.
Kudos on deciding to offer your talents :)

Hello, I am wanting to make an MMORPG very smalltime on the Kaneva Platform.
Tghis is not a big project, and probably would not require a good musician, my guitar skills would probably suffice, but as ed said good music can make or break a game and I would be honoured to work with you. :)
Anyway, if yopu cannot find a real project to take you on (which you should, by the way) give me a bell and we can sort things out.
Also, what sort of music do you do? I am quite interested in what styles and instruments you work with?
Thanks.

ahoy and thanks for replying so quickly :P
There is nothing like a game with good music, and a game without music is not a game, its a visual presentation :)
As for the instruments i play, there are few i havent tried yet, but my skills kinda lies with the keyboard and the sequencer as i program music. I've been doing music since the early 90's(or was it late 80's) and i've been involved with alot of demo/intro/etc productions, some of you might know this as "the scene", but for the past 7 years i've been developing music for live performances and with that playing in quite a few venues in norway.
When it comes to the actual music; i wont bother you with my too heavy bigbeat rock but rather give u some hints on what i do when i let it slip(the mind:).
Secret stronghold(classical music)
Lets say(soft bigbeat, wee trance guitar blend)
Still dreaming paradise(piano softbeat)
The drifter (2 man project, slow ethnic world music)
Cesno (made for a game movie, i lied about not posting my hard stuff :P )
Aint no moonshine (hardtrance bigbeat)
ok, i could post songs all day but ill stop there, however i'd like to point out that all of these songs are pretty old (1-2 years) and take that into consideration before you dismiss me.
A taste of what im doing now.

Music should be used a lot more in video games. The right music can really help a scene in a game or video. Movies in the 50s had some of the best soundtracks, where the music was custom composed for every frame. It would be good if games were like that.

I really like that stuff - Secret stronghold reminded me of AOE2 :)

I really, erally like the work you have there and I think that Secret Stronghold is perfect for the style of game I am going for, made me think of Morrowind a bit. You have some very professional work there, and if you want to join the team for the MMO I want to make, you're in.
At the moment, it is just me and a modeller and a few of my level designing friends, but as Jim Morrison says (Wayne's World 2) "If you book them, they will come.
As you say in your original post, you have a lot of ideas for making an MMORPG, would you like to help in the design aspects? Most stuff is already there, I have a campaign setting a roleplaying system quite well documented, but I'm sure there are many things you can contribute.
Thanks.

First of all thanks guys for nice feedback :P
Methula: Sounds interesting, i havent browsed this complete forum looking for info on your project but as for what you write and that you have allready gathered a fair ammount of people; shows dedication. So if you could spot me some more info ill be greatful. And yes i could probably contribute with some design aspect aswell as i've almost played every mmorpg there is and know what most of them lack, atleast from my perspective. :glare:
Im gonna go out on a limb here and suspect from what song you liked that this is a fantasy game?

You were right about the game, it IS fantasy, I have always been a fan of fantasy settings.
However, you were wrong about the level of the team, I have not posted on this forum about the project in question (which I am calling Turmoil at this stage), and I have not assembled much of a team.
At this stage I have a fairly strong design team, with people who constantly have great ideas, mostly my old everquest guildies but such is life.
I have a modeller who isn't really any good at character modelling, but makes some phenominal environmental models.
I personally do a bit of prop modelling and scripting in Python and Lua as well as being the Lead Designer and webmaster.
I can get more artists, which I think are going to be the main issue, although I plan to make character (PC and NPC) models and foliage using procedural generators.
I invisage using Kaneva platform, as that allows for free development, and hosting for fifty percent of the turnover.
If you are interested then mail me on methulah@yahoo.com.au and I will begin this project actively.
By the way: check out the Kaneva platform, it really makes MMO developement easy. [http://www.kaneva.com/]
Thanks
