Well long time no see. I see last time we got off on the wrong foot. Its time to change that.

I am currently looking for ppl to help me with my (hoping to be) MMORPG.

Heres the rundown of our game

Kingdom In Exile (fantasy/Sci-fi)

Story and World details:

World Name: Cronus

Number of countries: 8

Country name and present ruler:

1. Tynnia –King Alangorus (Alive)

2. Crantion –King Rasont (Alive)

3. Pytrious -King Syphorion (Alive)

4. Noarmid –King Mirand (Alive)

The former countries now called the Wasteland:

5. Trion –King Seraph (Dead)

6. Hyphonia –King Dragonus (Dead)

7. Rython –King Wrenthon (Dead)

8. Triphius –King Ansonus (Dead)

Known history from the Scrolls Of The Council

Not much before the war was recorded, but from what was gathered every account of the war and the aftermath is as follows:

The people from the outer world graced us with their presence by introducing us to their ways of life. This “Technology” is quite fascinating, even to the elder mages. But they didn’t understand us when the Council forbid them to bring such atrocities onto our lands and they demanded the newcomers to leave to where ever it was they hailed from. The newcomer’s leader, the General, he was very persistent and tried bargaining with the Council to reconsider their decision. They would not budge so the General and his people returned to their flying contraptions they called “Star Vessels” and sat afloat amongst the lands. They sat there for more than 2 or 3 days then it happened… They started to fire upon villages and cities. Then once 4 of the 8 countries were nothing but desolate ruins, they vanished without trace. Signs of their “Technology” came up almost immediately so King Alangorus called upon his vast armies to go and take every piece of vile machinery left and lock it away in the depths of the world. It is a vast chamber locked by the magic’s of the Mages of Cronus, never to be opened again. The war was over yet none of the countries that were destroyed were in any King’s plan to be rebuilt and the remaining Countries looked to the Council for an answer of some kind. Kithara, the head of the Council, stated that even though those Countries and Kingdoms were lost, they still remain open for those who seek to be the new rulers of the newly called “Wastelands” Now even though they have no King, all the Countries were joined together to form the Wastelands and many people have now become its settlers. Since then strange creatures have emerged and made their own civilization away from the human settlers. They are hostile, yet they keep to themselves and leave everyone alone. They call themselves the “Lordocs”. They haven’t even tried to come across to our lands to wage war, they remain to their own section of land and leave everyone alone. Both countries are separated by water and an underground tunnel that house even the most dangerous and strange beings. Markets, inns, and even hoses can be found down there as it looks like an underground city. We don’t venture down there, but heroes have seen the things they do down there. Other than the tunnel transportation can be used to reach the Wastelands by either the boats that are docked in the harbor, or the airship nearby. The world of Cronus may never be like the planet it once was, but it will never see the fear it has seen already...we hope.

This is good. Just to push you further in your design (which is always good :)), what would be your 2 sentence description of the essence of the game, which shows why it is different, and fun. This sentence would be at the start of any design doc, and is useful to look at when considering 'should we add this feature?'.

Hmmmm.....good question Ed. The Essence of the game is not just to be different than the other games out there that inspired me to try this, but to be fun and innovative. I see Kingdom In Exile as a game that will take players to a place far beyond our world and see a living World that they have never dreamed about. I want this game not to be called a MMORPG clone of this game or that, or a RPG of this game. I want it to be called an experience like no other. For some it will be just a game to meet new ppl and do new things, but for others it will be like living another life somewhere other than here. I hope that satisfies your question.

For my input. Why include Elves, Trolls, and Goblins at all? You obviously have the start of something different with Lordocs and Mutants, why not take it further and simply avoid the typical western fantasy genre?

Just a thought...

Thats what i said but after talks with the team we all agreed to make it a little simple and standard at first. There will be more races to come. And not all of those are playable races. They are NPC civilizations. But you do have a good point though.
