Nice read. I think the most important take-home message is right here.
Funny thing about Linux is I know a lot of guys that use the OS exclusively. When they do get games, they jump on it like frenzy piranhas. 7% may be peanuts for studios spending top dollar, but for indies it's a lifeline extension. Other than that, I hope people don't read that article and start developing with Adboe Air

As a quick aside, the factthat our game is multi-platform has generated bonus revenue above and beyond what we've earned from Mac and Linux users.

The indie market may allow it to grow enough for larger developers to take it seriously eventually, but for now, that's the best they will get. Compared to what they had for games, it's probably a big deal. If the developers use an engine that's cross compatible, it's not a big deal to port to another platform. It just depends if the engine has worked out enough bugs for it not to be a headache. Steam will probably standardize Ubuntu for games. What's considered an "indie" game keeps getting more and more advanced, also. AAA doesn't impress me much anymore. It's mostly rinse and repeat with better graphics. Some small studio games have as much depth and pretty good graphics. It's actually getting hard for me to find a game I want to play anymore. Too old I guess. They all look like another endless pathway of corpses, or soon to be corpses. For all the talk about indies, there isn't that much innovation there, either.
I don't know much about Air.
