its not finished, things need improving, its for this little 2d game my little brother wants to make so i thought id make a 4096x4096 unique pixel level for him, heres a little snapshot of it. he pixelled in the little robot that appears in front of the doorways, theyll be removed when im testing the game for real. they were just there to see if i could mesh my style with his.
hes doing some pretty flash work on the animation for the robot sprite, its looking really smooth.

so far its about 4 hours work, was fun. :)

you used to be able to fit a game on a disk, then you used to be able to fit a game on a cd, then you used to be able to fit a game on a dvd, now you can barely fit one on your harddrive.

It's kind of hard to see at that size. Looks pretty nice. Not sure a unique pixel level is such a good idea. Takes longer to load and doesn't allow for as much modular design as a tiled level.
Currently using Blender and Unity.

Basically it doesn't look as bad. Fireside has a point, although if you go for unique pixel level, what about making maps larger (F.e. 32K x 32K pixels), and streaming it like Megatexture?
My blog about game development (and not just game development) - http://gameprogramme...y.blogspot.com/

If you don't know how to speed up application, go "roarrrrrr!", hit the compiler with the club and use -O3 :D

cool idea, imagine it going on forever in all directions, go onto a desert on the outside. it would be an mmo scale map then. :)
gotta neaten it up bad tho, its a bit of an organic mess.

Cool, If you look at the first picture where you can see more - the use of colours / shades, there is this Anime / Cyberpunk vibe going on

That would mean a massive job with content creation if you are supposed to actually use the pixels.

not really, if you use your clipboard well, its just making the individual pieces that takes the time. Im thinking about doing it, but its not just my game, maybe my little bro wont want me to do it that way, just one giant level.
