Hi guys! I'm tired of my clients asking me to do interactive music to no end. Every single of them says "Let's make music innovative by making it more interactive!".
But using mp3/ogg/mpc is not the way to do that given their static nature and high CPU consumption for decoding.

I have a lot of experience with writing audio and synths and considered making an opensource Midi+SF2 or Midi+DLS playback library that it could be integrated into a game engine, and making it MIT/ZLIB so anyone can use it.. but then it ocurred to me that maybe someone already did this. I found these libraries:

http://sourceforge.n...rac/fluidsynth/
http://timidity.sourceforge.net/

But they are all GPL, which conflicts in using them with embedded platforms. So, to your knowledge, does any library like this, with a more permissive license exist? or I really have no choice but to make one of my own?

Cheers!

PS: Not interested in purchasing a commercial solution like fmod.
