I do my fair share of pc related work for others. and I just finished, I kid you not my 25th uninstall of windows 8. thats not just individuals with a single computer. but companies that buy computers in bulk. that have the same sentiment, get this sh!t off my computer. they buy new computers that come with windows 8 installed, but they dont have the install disk. simple navigation is atrocious and a complete departure from previous windows. and the interface is a linux, mac hybrid better served on tablets and phones.

microsoft seems to be getting out of the desktop business. its appears pc users will have to go somewhere else or use older versions of windows. from this point on

I think 8 is right up there with Vista, but worse, haven't actually tried it, though. Don't want to. I hope it completely fails because of the heavy handed "store" type control system they are trying to implement like Apple. People that want that type of system can just buy an Apple computer, laptop, or whatever. The rest of us want an alternative. If this fails badly enough, I'm hoping they'll get rid of Ballmer and put someone in there that has a better vision.

I have had many long arguments with people over windows 8, I despise it. The whole metro interface is a mistake as far as I am concerned.

Then I get yelled at by people saying "but it's got legacy mode"

It seems they said "we want a chunk of the tablet market, but windows 7 wont run on a tablet, so let's write something that will and make that the standard"

Which is like saying "we made our money out of selling food, let's stop selling food and go into arms dealing"

Microshaft is a company formed by deceit and sharp business tactics, it would be nice if they were to go bust.

It's pretty sad, because Windows XP is still the most intuitive and efficient OS out there for working with files, in my experience. I do most of my work on OSX nowadays. The only things I still use Windows for are:

• Visual Studio
  
• 3ds max
  
• Paint Shop Pro
  
• Games

I wish Microsoft would get back to what made Windows 2000 and XP so good. It seems like when they try to make things "easy to use" they just end up making it unpredictable and complicated.
