can't export to md5 (3dsmax 2012)

i can't seem to export a simple tube with 3 bones that bends to md5, there is a problem with the max script exporter i think that its old and wont work for 3dsmax 2012, does anyone know what i can do about this?

I wrote a .x file to md5 converter as I didn't have an exporter that worked how i needed it for lightwave. If you can export to .x file you can use this converter to export to md5. for animation you'll have to watch the tutorial video as it requires an extra step to that of a static mesh. ive even had problem exporting to .x from 3dsmax 2012 to .x and running it in the dx viewer, the animation dosent play :/, so i dont think going from .x to md5 is going to work for me , there is so little information on these topics , it really frustrates me ..

You could use Blender as an intermediary. Import the fbx into it, and export to md5. Some of those exports are a bit dicey also, though. Another good free converter is Milkshape3d. There is a trial version that is fully functional, or used to be. Also, there is a converter tool for fbx that will be able to export the model to an older fbx version or collada:
