Makehuman is a really cool free program and there are some interesting improvements from alpha 7 like polygonal hair and a small clothing library. Great source of human models that you can customize. There is also a low poly model for games, or there was before, haven't checked it out too far yet.

The hyper-glossy human figures on the home page are now fodder for my nightmares. Thanks.
