this may not be news to most but I just found out, about gamestops no return policy on new games. has as anyone heard of bying something new and not being able to return it. even if the product is faulty, they flat out couldnt care less. gamestop seems to have realized even if we show them no respect, this group will still by our games.



whats more disturbing is people buying from gamestop dont seem to care.

At most stores I don't think you can return software. It would be too easy for people to buy something, copy the discs, and return it to get their money back while keeping the copy. Same goes for movies, music CDs, etc.

The number of games that require some sort of online activation is ever growing (and the reason for that is to make money on second hand sales). If a customer used his key, the game cannot be resold for normal price. I think it would be pretty tedious to keep a list of games which have such a key, so it's easier to simply refuse any game that has been opened.

A faulty product, regardless of what it is, can be returned to the point of sale. Every country has it's laws which cover this.

The issue then becomes what is "faulty"

If the game fails to load at all, then you have a legal rite to get a replacement.

If the game loads,but it's just crap, then you have no hope.

Right, they should be able to just replace the disc if it's unreadable or something. There is of course a grey area regarding bugs, but if it gets to the point where it's outright not usable, the store will get many complaints. They may ignore the first few, but as soon as they notice it's a fundamental flaw with the product they usually will accept returns. I doubt whether this is any different at Gamestop.

gamestop has become a trade store. if its a used game you can get a refund, or exchange it for something else. for the most part what would be expected of new games. they have reversed what was reserved for new games with a used game. and made new games by at your own risk
